Today’s collection is Tuesday, November 29: Cityscapes.

clevermankaI’ve posted a weekly themed collection on my Tumblr nearly every week since October, 2011. Someday I’ll compile a list of them, with links to the dates. That day is not today.

This is perfect timing for me booking my trip to Chicago for Xmas!

For all our shortcomings, we humans have managed to build some incredible places. Those shots of Lagos took my breath away.

And I swear that photo after the ones of Quebec is of a corner in Hatsudai, Tokyo, about four blocks away from my ex's apartment. (Although really so many places in Tokyo look similar, so I guess it could be one of many corners.)

I rarely regret not having traveled, but wow–that's a whole lot of world to never have seen in person. Lovely.

I know travel helps one become a more well-rounded and full-experienced individual, but I just…well, I pretty much hate it. The first two days are usually okay but after that I want to be home so much. But I love reading about other people's experiences and looking at their pictures!

I mean okay… I'm pretty much just US and Canada but I really feel like in general people are people.
Travel is more about geography than sociology.
And if people are people everywhere… well travel is only important if you, like Herzog, believe images are necessary for existence (N.B. I kinda do?).

How cool! I have the opposite experience! When I do travel, it's for something like seeing friends at cons, or for a particular experience I can't get elsewhere–like going to NYC for Hamilton or San Diego for SDCC. I love the variety of human experience, not just what we experience but how.

the thing is I guess, thats sort of a specific thing that you're interacting with.
Buffalo, Key West, Barstow, Seattle, Chattanooga, Austin…

People have been people to me every where.

(which is to say largely dismissive of black/female Americans)

Just last night I was out wandering around and being quietly pleased with Albuquerque spreading out beneath/before me.

The eastside of 'Burque is nothing but expansive lightscapes, which is an interesting interplay with the New Mexican tradition of luminarias. If you stand on Tramway the entire city becomes analogous of luminarias.
